Paddy Series I

In the first series, I wanted to share the beauty and serenity of the Sekinchan paddy fields. I captured what I observed on canvas and I also created a few paintings that expressed the essence of the fields. These paintings were exhibited in a group exhibition in 2017. I am delighted that they were well-received for its messages of serenity, abundance and harvest.

Dawn At The Paddy Fields

“During my overnight painting trip to Sekinchan with a group of artists, I woke up at dawn to soak in the atmosphere at the paddy fields and to gain inspiration for my paintings. I observed workers arriving in their motorbikes to commence work at the fields. The mornings there are especially enjoyable, for being cool and serene with many little birds chirping cheerfully.”

Banana Trees By The Paddy Fields

“This is a painting I created after an overnight painting trip to Sekinchan with a group of artists. The atmosphere at the fields is calm and serene. Surrounding the paddy fields are many clusters of banana trees. I love their neat broad leaves that create beautiful shapes against the paddy field backdrop.”
